Bill
and Rosie Stoner are one of our "retired" missionary couples.
Bill grew up near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and attended the Baptist
Bible College located then in Johnson City, New York. His seminary
training brought him to Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, then in Wealthy
Street Baptist Church where Rosie was a member. She was a nurse at
Butterworth Hospital. They were married September 8, 1951. While
attending seminary Bill was music director at Maplelawn.
They began their missionary service in Chile where
they served eight years. They then worked in Spain as church planters
for 22 years. Upon their turn to Grand Rapids they opened a home for
newly released parolees who wished to be discipled. They then answered
the call to be hosts for a year at the missionary guest home in
Budapest, Hungary in 1996. Since then Bill continues to serve as leader
in our Hispanic Ministry and as an interpreter for Mary Free Bed
Hospital. Rosie is an aide at Potter's House Christian School and
conducts one-on-one Bible studies. In their "free" time they
enjoy their trailer near Montague, Michigan.
The Stoners have five grown children and sixteen
grandchildren.
David is missionary director at Mars Hill.
Timothy is a lawyer.
Philip is with Nelson Publishing, Reference Book
Division.
